Activities director Zac Bellman has big plans for KEMPA SJW this year. Rejoining KEMPA for his second year he has focused a lot of time into making sure this year's activities are enjoyable for advisers, interns and kampers.
“I hope to get them to relieve the stress of a long day with the activities we have planned,” said Bellman.
Bellman met director Patrick Johnson his freshman year at Marquette when Johnson taught Bellman’s journalism class. He was recruited by Johnson for camp last year as an intern. He led his team to the Kempa Kup victory. This year he decided to focus all of his time on activity planning.
Bellman is now a junior at Marquette and will major in Journalism and minor in Digital Media. Previous to Marquette he went to school at Hinsdale Central High School and originally got involved with column writing about the NFL his senior year.
“I saw a TV show called Generation Kill about an embedded reporter with first marine recon. The story intrigued me and got me interested in telling stories,” said Bellman.
He has continued his interest in sports these past three years, having a sports column about the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers on a website called chatsports.com. He also writes about the Indianapolis Colts on a website called firststopfantasy.com.
Bellman is very excited to get to know all of the campers and give them any advice he can in the upcoming few days.
“I hope to network with some of the up and coming journalists and provide them with any contacts that could help them get started in the industry,” said Bellman.
