For camper Bradley Star, joining the newspaper staff at Brookfield Academy in Brookfield, Wis., ultimately led him to assume the position of Editor-in-Chief his senior year.
Though he is familiar with the responsibilities of an editor position, having been the sports editor and then co-copy editor, this new position will mean new experiences, and potentially new challenges, for Star.
“I've liked to write for as long as I can remember,” Star said. “I became interested in journalism, particularly sports writing, the summer before my freshman year because that was around the time I started reading various sports writers.”
Star also realizes that while writing is important, it is only one aspect of journalism. He hopes that KEMPA SJW will help him to learn more about the various other components that make up the realm of journalism.
“I would like to pursue a career in journalism, be it a sports writer or any other form of journalism,” Star said. “I'm excited to learn more about the subject...and meet others who are also interested in it.”
