Morgan Gstalter has had an impressive start to her journalism career, and she’s just getting started.
In the fall, Gstalter will return to Drake University and continue on her pursuit of a News/Internet Journalism major.
“I love the creativity and the freedom that you get in journalism and how its always changing,” Gstalter explained, “no day is the same.”
Gstalter got her start at Niles West high school in Skokie Illinois under the advisory of Ms. Evelyn Lauer, KEMPA Instructor.
Gstalter began her journey into journalism sophomore year and worked her way up to the position of Social Media editor as a senior.
Along the way, she developed close ties with Lauer and still considers her to be a great mentor. Thus, when approached by Lauer with the opportunity to volunteer at KEMPA, Gstalter willingly agreed.
As for her favorite part about camp?
“I love connecting with people that I can relate to and that I have similar interests with,” Gstalter said, “It’s fun to be a mentor and a friend to someone who is also interested in something you are really passionate about.”
